Lou Vernon

was an integral and multi-talented member of Thespian Lodge. A consummate actor, Vernon took the world by storm during a career which spanned 65 years in total. During this career he starred in vaudeville, theatre, motion pictures, radio and television. Indeed, during the 1950s he played parts in TV-Westerns such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza and others. He played Ava Gardner's father in Nevil Shute's epic On the Beach in 1959. One of his radio shows ran for eleven years. He was born in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane and died 83 years later in Vaucluse, Sydney.
