Claude Holland, legendary actor,

movie star and broadcaster...

Few performers commence their acting career at the tender age of two. One of the exceptions was Claude Holland, only child to famous actor and theatre producer Ted Holland and his actress wife Eva Wilson.

Educated at Christian Brothers on Gregory Terrace, Brisbane Holland grew up in the family home "Elgar"on North Quay.

From there he travelled extensively throughout the 1920s first with Hugh Huxham and later as a star in his own right throughout Australia and New Zealand.

He starred in several movies, such as the 1926 silent film Tall Timber, shot around Taree, NSW.

Holland's contribution to commercial radio was notable for an enduring focus on Diggers from both wars, trying to re-connect, through the medium of radio, Australian servicemen scattered throughout the nation...

A popular vaudevillian from the old tradition, Holland's life unfolded as an important chapter of 20th Century Australian theatre history.
